MERRRY CHRISTMAS AND A VERY BLESSED NEW YEAR.

PEACE ON EARTH GOOD WILL TO MAN.

To You and Yours from mine

Uncle Billy Dunbar

Country Unplugged Bluegrass Radio

As I reflect on  all the Christmas or New Year broadcast I have done over the years.

Some which I actually worked on the air because in the old days there wasn't  a

computer that we could program to do the broadcast, just us humans. And maybe you

had Thanksgiving off ,and so you where in the box for Christmas. For several years while

working for 50,000 watt WOW Country Radio in Omaha, Neb, my Bluegrass show would fall on a

Christmas Day, so I would be really  happy I could be on the air to play

Bluegrass Christmas music.  I was the only Bluegrass DJ on any radio station in a

four state area at that time and I was proud to be able to bring this music to folks in

this part of the country that loved it as I did. Quite a few where in those area's having

relocated from their home states and had families that this genre of music was like

a part of living.  Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, W. Virginia, Ohio, Arkansas and the list

goes on.    And of course we know here at the WWB that now it cover's the Globe.

Before WOW AM/FM, I did the Bluegrass show on a little day time AM station on the weekend,

and did not get paid for it. In fact, I volunteered to work on my day off, at the time I was

selling radio ads, and doing fill in work on the board when the regular DJ, we only had one

and if he took a day or a week off, then there was I.  I have done that since here in Iowa, but I

I love the music and I love the those who tune in each week to get their Bluegrass fix.

Some of you live where Bluegrass is sometimes taken for granted, and there is music

on the Radio stations.  Not so here in the mid-west, we are lucky we even see even a

local Bluegrass Band let alone, a national one.  But we have lot's and lot's of those who

love it.  As some of you know I produce a two hour Bluegrass Show and I have a sponsor

so I do get some financial benefit from it. But I would do it for noting if that was the only

way I could get it out to those who other wise would not hear it on the air ways. I did have

two stations airing it, but just recently one the owner's decided that there was more

benefit to changing the format to a Classic Rock station from a Classic Country station.

We never know what tomorrow may bring, the station I still have it on could go dark today.

And if it did I would head out and offer it free to any station that would air it. I joined Gracie and

the other DJ's a year or so ago, because I saw what a great opportunity and adventure this

Internet Broadcasting of this beautiful piece of  our American Heritage was, and  I

know those who sign on to join us to hear us fill the Internet around the world with the

music of our Ancestor's that is purely a product of this great country of ours. Thank you

for giving your time and talents which we know come from our Father on High. I am proud

to be associated with all you fine people the Volunteer Crew of the good ship WWB.

May God Bless Us all  of the WORLD WIDE BLUEGRSS Community.
