I've been listening to this Duo for over 50 years. It started at the speaker of an old RCA VICTROLA during the late '50s. I believe I own just about everything they've recorded except Bobby's recent project with Rhonda Vincent. I'll get that one before the week ends. Sonny's Banjo and the pure voice of Bobby and his mandolin have given me many years of enjoyment as I've traveled across the country. The Osborne 8 tracks, cassettes and now CDs, have been replaced several times as they've kept me singing along for hours at a time. If any group belongs in the Hall of Fame, The Osborne Brothers should be at or near the top of the list. God bless them, they've never wavered and they're still pure bluegrass. Sonny is missed today but Bobby is doing a splendid job with taking it to the next level. God Bless him and the guys of The Rocky Top X-Press. Let's get this done!

i wonder just what is going on with the HOF why do they continue to overlook the Greats like the Stanley brothers and the Osborn brothers . The Osborn brothers should been in the Hall of Fame years ago . The Stanley Brothers should have been in the Hall Of fame long before most in there.
how can the pioneers that have given and done so much be continualy ignored and many far less deserving rushed into the HOF? It is way past time for the HOF to wake up and do as they should. induct the pioneers before anyone else is added
When a person or group of individuals are selected for a Hall of Fame of any kind there is not solely an expectation of proven talent, there is also an expectation of proven character. The Osborne Brothers are God fearing folk that possess both qualities and they would certainly carry the torch admirably. My only prayer is that the Osborne Brothers are not overlooked in the conundrum of today's politics in the music business. These guys are deserving of such title and greatly past due.

Please add my name to petition for the Osborne Bros. in Hall of Fame.I have known Sonny since he was fourteen and was playin with Bill Monroe at Grundy VA.Having known both Sonny and Bobby for over forty years,I think their harmonies are legendary. They are the leading example of close smooth three part harmony and their instrumental talents are second to none. It's about time that these legends like the Osborne Bros. and the Stanley Bros. receive their long overdue credit by being in the Hall of Fame.I encourage everyone to sign petitions at once.
I agree to the Osbornes being in the hall of fame. I have been listening to bluegrass ever since I was a baby. Elsie Kesler uniwolves1962@yahoo.com 20 SW 10 ST Hallandale Beach, FL. 33009 954-638-4292

Having been priveledged to play with many outstanding musicians over a long period of time I must state without reservation that Sonny and Bobby Osborne ARE in my opinion the most creative and articulate BLUEGRASS ARTISANS I've ever had the opportunity to hear. While I believe there are outstanding banjo players (i.e.Scruggs,Reno,etc); Sonny is the only one you could put behind a screen and he could emulate any and yet have his own inimitable style and not know that all three were not behind the screen. Bobby had and has now regained the highest and clearest tenor voice I've ever heard. When combined together and with the superb accomaniment of Dale Sledd, Ronnie Reno and others and with the lyrics of Felice & Boudleux Bryant or re-cuts of The Wilburn Brothers material; THE OSBORNE BROTHERS ARE THE BEST(of the best)!!! Mike Robertson/Roanoke,VA.
In hearing of this petition, I've hurried here without one moments hesitation to sign it, as I most definitely feel that Bob & Sonny Osborne very much deserve induction into the CMHF, for as I've both seen it written, and heard it told, Bob & Sonny strove very hard over the years, to gain acceptance in mainstream country music eventhough at times, this tended to alienate them somewhat from their bluegrass audiences.
At certain periods of time (especially from the mid 60's -mid 70's) the sound of their band, was a blend of bluegrass and mainstream country sounds of the day, which I very much enjoyed ! Though some (I learned later on), frowned on their use of steel guitar and drums, and (incredulously), even on the sound of Sonny's 6-String Banjo, I, although very young at that time, thought it was great, and in my family and circle of friends their sound was accepted greatly !
Next I'll ask this, whom out anyone who has ever listened to their vocal work, can be any less than amazed, and maybe even mesmerized by it. I think it's pretty safe to say, that the Osborne Brothers were probably one of the first in Bluegrass, and maybe mainstream Country Music also, to gain great attention for their vocal harmonies.
The words ornate and intricate, have been used when describing their brand of 3 part harmony singing, and that is surely the truth, and as a performer, I can also tell you that when trying to duplicate the arrangement of a few of the Osborne's great songs such as, "Pathway of Teardrops", "This Heart of Mine", and "Once More"; but to name a few, it is very challenging and demanding for the vocalist attempting to even try it !
It takes a special blend of voices (or a blend of special voices), I'm not sure which,to achieve the awesome harmonies, that Bob & Sonny, and several of their fine "3rd-part" vocalists have done thru the years, and though there are many fine groups out there who feature great instrumental work, and very fine close harmony as well, each time I sit down and listen to my collection of Osborne Brothers albums (MGM & Decca especially), I always end up shaking my head, and thinking to myself, "Man ! How'd they do that !?" and "Could anyone ever do it any better than they did it right there" ?!
So for all the aforementioned reasons, I'm very proud to add my signature to this petition, and here's hoping it will open all the neccesary eyes at the CMA, and that it will bring about the induction of the Osborne Brothers real soon !
