Sweet Jesus an' Cornbread! Like to read or know someone who does? Enjoy knee-slappin' humor, adventure, and romance? How about home-grown music? If you answered 'yes' to any of these questions, I've got a few things just for you!
The Legend of Juggin Joe is a 125-page country humor fiction story unlike any you've ever read. See how Joe, a good-natured, mischievous boy who grows up in the hills of upstate New York, goes on to become an international music star playing the jug. Along the way, there's adventures galore and a frustrating romance that might just bring a tear to your eye. If that's not enough, just how does one such as this simple country boy influence politics and help change the global balance of power? You've got to read it to believe it!
The special hook about Juggin Joe is J. Peter Yakel's unique "country-speak" writing style, which has been compared by many to Mark Twain's hand in "Tom Sawyer" and "Huck Finn".
Then there's the music, available as individual mp3 song downloads, or a 10-song CD. This is J. Peter's solo artist bonanza of catchy newgrass/folk/blues-oriented hilltown music. The book and music both stand tall in their own right, but taken together, they compliment one another in a very special way. Each of the original songs are mentioned in the Juggin Joe book. But on top of that, the song lyrics give listeners tidbits of information related to the Juggin Joe storyline...inside information, if you will. So, if you read the book and listen to the song lyrics, you have a fuller understanding of the characters and goings on in this humorous fiction tale. Taken together, the book and music CD offer reader/listeners a full sensory experience second to none.
The Juggin Joe book and music are now available at reduced prices just for the Holiday Season!
J. Peter - My books an' music are like possum stew. Literary masterpieces an' compositions are like filet mignon. Some folk enjoy that there filet, but pert near ever'body eats possum. www.lulu.com/yakel www.myspace.com/floodroad
I've read J Peter Yakel's book The Legend of Juggin Joe and highly recommend it if you want to experience country life at its best. This book is written with a country style dialect, and at first you may think it's going to be difficult to understand, but just read it the way it appears ....soon you'll find yourself talkin' just like Joe and his family/friends! This entertaining book has it all.....humor, romance, and music, and it doesn't take you long to fall totally in love with Joe. I look forward to hearing more about Joe's adventures, and I hope that J Peter continues to write and provide the music to coincide with the story.
