Greetings, Bluegrass and Gospel Music fans! I have some wonderful news to share with you, and I hope that youll be as excited as I am to be a part of it.In the past few weeks, Ive been in contact with the owners of the Strasburg Theater, (Strasburg, VA) and theyve given me the go-ahead to put together a very special Sunday Afternoon Bluegrass and Gospel Music show. This event will feature some of the finest Bluegrass and Gospel Bluegrass groups on the circuit, and will take place every Sunday afternoon, from 1 Pm until 5 Pm, right here at the Strasburg Theater. These very special Sunday afternoon shows will be completely SMOKE FREE, and will be designed with the entire family in mind. Many of you have noticed the decrease in family centered events, and I believe that this will be a wonderful opportunity to bring the family together again. Come sit back and relax, enjoy a nice lunch, and listen to the music that made this part of Virginia famous. We have some fantastic groups lined up for these Sunday afternoons, and the admission fee will be kept at a very reasonable rate.Well also have special discount rates offered for Church and Civic groups whod like to attend. A brief background on the Strasburg Theater. Originally called The Home Theater, this 500 seat capacity theater is conveniently located in the heart of Strasburg VAs downtown district, right at the crossroads of Interstates 81 and 66.With a varied and storied background, the Theater has served in a wide variety of ways, from rock concerts to Bluegrass shows, cultural events, - even professional wrestling! The current owners have put a great deal of their own time and money into refurbishing the venue, and you can tell when you walk through the doors. The Theaters restaurant offers a nice selection from their full menu, so you wont have to run home and cook a big meal. The show is kid-friendly, though we do ask that you keep watch over their behavior. I am happy to have this opportunity to bring Bluegrass and Gospel music back to the Theater, and I believe that Sunday afternoons would be the ideal time to enjoy this. Most Church services let out around noon, and the shows will begin at 1:00 pm.There will be two different acts performing each Sunday, with the odd one-liners, joke tellers or family entertainers tossed into the mix.My vision is to model this event on the famous Grand Ole Opry, where folks would come to relax, get together with their families, and listen and clap along to the Bluegrass and Gospel music weve come to love and miss. Please take a moment to spread the word, and plan to attend our first Bluegrass/ Gospel Sunday Event beginning on Sunday, August 26th, 2007.The groups we have lined up for our very first show are sure to please.Sound Roots is a family of performers based out of Woodstock, VA..They cover Appalachian Mountain music, as well as traditional Bluegrass and Gospel Bluegrass. We also have very special headlining act The Shenandoah Bluegrass Boys, who happen to be one of the most popular Bluegrass bands in the entire Shenandoah Valley. The Shenandoah Bluegrass Boys bring a great deal of experience to the stage, and have a tradition of making people smile with their infectious humor and knee slappin good jams.Sound Roots and The Shenandoah Bluegrass Boys will delight their audience with traditional Bluegrass and Gospel Bluegrass favorites. Folks, we have a lot more in store for Bluegrass and Gospel Bluegrass fans. Some of the groups slated to appear in the coming weeks include Thunder Creek (September 2nd) and Thrash N Hollar (Sept 9th).Strasburgs native sons 5 of a Kind and Dead Mens Hollow out of Clifton, VA are just a few more groups whove thrown their hats into the ring.I really hope that youll come out and support this family centered event.Admission fee is only $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for kids under 12. Please make plans to attend, and well see you all on Sunday!
