Hey ya'll! Benita Murphy here with the band Delta Reign. We're from the Mobile river delta area. I believe that Gracie has played our stuff some. I never get to catch her show, I usually listen in the mornings. I really appreciate what WWB is doing and I'd like to figure out how I can help with this "support internet radio equality act" This is a great thing ya'll have here.
A little about myself if ya'll can stand it... I'm the bass player and lead singer for the band. I've been married to Pat (banjist for the band) for 31 years. (imagine living with a banjo player that thinks he's a comedian for that long?!!) We've been playing mostly traditional grass early on since about '76. I totally quit playing, turned my back on it in about "92 to spend time raising our son and getting involved in our church. one day in about '02-03, I got a call to fill in for someone in a house band and came back with a vengeance...figured I ain't gettin no younger! I must have had some sort of mid - life crisis because I found a fortitude that I didn't know that I had. I never sang much lead before and was always too shy to do much. Now I'm lead singer, principle arranger, booking agent, band manager, publicist, accountant, chief cook and bottle washer, at times, pshycologist,...who knew? Wish I knew then what I know now...(kinda sounds like a song don't it?) Hopefully all this plowing and coming back to my roots will pay off someday, ("said the Little Red Hen" ) I'm just naive enough to stay after it... Anyway, when I came back, I started experimenting with some different rhythms and grooves to our grassy roots and stretching the boundaries a bit. I think my time off gave me a fresh approach. It's a little bit of swingy rhythms, a little blues, and a dash of jazz. We're labeling it "bluegrass...delta style" because of our Mobile river delta (second largest delta system in the U.S) and the mixture of music we have around here. We honor our roots VERY MUCH. To my suprise, even a lot of traditional folks like us. We're moving on, playing more festivals and shows, getting some more exposure. We got our first major CD review in the July issue of Bluegrass Now, written by Don Kissil, former editor of "Pickin" magazine. (anybody old enough to remember that one?) I'm hoping that might help get us out there more. Working on some original stuff for our next CD. No deadlines this time, even a 31 year marriage has a hard time holding up under doing a CD together with a deadline! (especially when it's in our home studio and he's engineering and playing!) We have one song that I wrote just up on our websites, "Mississippi Rain Pourin' Down". Y'all stop by and check it out...
Wheewww! that was a lot. Was I too candid? I promise that I won't write that much at once anymore. Well thanks for letting me come aboard. Stop by our websites and check us out. If you have a myspace. Be our friend! See ya,
Benita ~ Delta Reign "bluegrass...delta style" deltareign.com or myspace.com/deltareign (can't do links here?...) Now if I can figure out how to get on the chat room...hhmmmm
Girl I just went in and listened to some of your music. I really liked what I heard. I love bluegrass, blues and Jazz, so the flavor of all of them in your music peaked my interest. You also sound like a very busy lady. Welcome to WWB, We are a real bluegrass family here and the arms are always open wide for newcomers. Hope you find your way into the chat room soon. Looking forward to chatting with you. There is some amazing talent out there Gracie and the DJ's expose their listeners to a lot of good music that otherwise may not be heard. Blessings Mary in VA
Thanks for your introduction! Great to meet ya! Congratulations on remaining married for such a great amount of time!!
Getting into the Chat room is reasonably easy and I hope what is written here can help you do it.
In the column of buttons on the left side of the WorldWideBluegrass (WWB) page, there are blue and red buttons. Left-click on the "Chat" red button and you will go to a different page which will include a place for you to enter your name and a password. The "Password" section is there for the DJs to use. A password is not needed to enter the chat room. Immediately below those two boxes is a link to download and "Install Plugin" which is necessary to do. Left- click on that link.
Please have no worries about something bad getting loaded onto your computer, that ain't gonna happen!!!! The WWB has a family-friendly and just plain ol' friendly site which includes everything, including the "Plugin," on it. Nothing bad will be loaded to cause you, or your computer, any regrets!
After the "Plugin" is downloaded, follow the instructions which pop up to complete the installation. Follow the instructions listed on the page used for signing into the chat room and have fun!!
You never know who you will meet in the chat room!! Who knows, we might meet there, too!
Sure hope this helps. If you continue to have questions, or discover problems, please do not delay asking for assistance. There are a great many folks who hang out here who are willing to jump right in there and help when they can!
Take care!
Eric OR
PS - Once you get into the chat room, I suspect you will have more questions, so please do not keep questions to yourself. It is easier to explain how other things work while you have those other things up on the screen in front of you.

Hey there Don, thanks for the friendly advice. I will try the chat room again and see what happens. How do you guys actually talk...I mean with the audio. I heard you the other day but do you have a mike hooked up? Anyhow,I just saw your myspace friend request...I'll get back to ya...see ya in cyberspace!
Hey there Eric...thanks for the advice...I actually did get into the chat room, just a little confused at who and when I'm talking to. Does everyone in there see what everyone is saying or is it just the person that is highlighted? Then when I heard the audio talking to me, it totally confused me! It was probably a funny sight to see me trying to talk to my computer! I was hoping for some written instructions, (I'm a woman, I don't mind reading instructions! ha! ) Anyhow, I'll try to do it again....thanks, Benita
ONLY the DJ's can talk on the mic, UNLESS a special event happening in the room but everyone can text chat and YES, everyone can see what everyone else is saying in the room.
See what I mean about the helpful folks? But, ya gotta watch out for what Dana might say. Next thing ya know, he will ask you to tune in for his show on Saturdays from 4 PM to 7 PM, eastern time!!
That Don Harris character is always willing to help everybody!! Mary also helps out anytime she can!!
It is a good thing you heard the audio while you were in the chat room! During a live show, the live DJ's program can be heard through the chat room speaker. At all other times, it is necessary to use a player of your choice to hear the music. Personally, I prefer to use RealPlayer all of the time. There are several players to choose from on the "Listen" page, which pops up after a left-click on the red "Listen" button.
The way I hear it, the sound quality is better while using one of the players. That could be all in my imagination, though.
When you initially Login for the chat room, upon your arrival there, a notice will post for all who are watching which indicates you have arrived. At that moment, you are in the "Everyone" area of the chat room. Private Messaging (PM) is also available, but this is not the best place for me to attempt to explain that. PM can be explained much easier, for me anyway, while you are in the chat room.
One of the first things I do when I pop into the chat room is make the text window bigger to help me read the chat text easier. When there are many folks in the chat room, the text can fly by at a rather rapid rate! The text window can be expanded just like most other windows. Move the cursor arrow over the window box line you want to move until a double ended arrow appears. When the double ended arrow appears, left-click and drag that window box line to open the text window to a larger size. It works to shrink the window size, too.
Please do not be concerned about harming anything in the chat room while you try any mouse movements, mouse clicks or keystrokes. Rest assured that you will do no harm to the chat room and, most likely, nothing bad will happen to your computer.
There are many other things you can also do in the chat room, but many of them are more easily explained while you are in it. Please have no worries about experimenting with anything in there. Experimentation is one good way to learn!!
If you have any questions, please ask. The answers are usually right at somebody's fingertips and those fingertips are often itching to reply!!
Hope this helps! See ya in the chat room at sometime or another!!
Oh, I think a little shameless self promotion is a good thing...I'm into it!
Yeah Eric, I appreciate the advice. I did get into the chat room that first time with windows media player. I think my real player is somehow messed up..couldn't get it to work....anyway, if ya'll see me come into the chat room, just pay me no mind...that'll be me stumbling around probably knockin stuff over...You say I can't cause any damage experimenting around...? ha...we'll see!...Probably create a wormhole into an alternate universe or something! lol
