DID YOU KNOW BILL MUNROE WAS A ROCK SINGER OF THE 40'S

Well here's the proof and some interesting reading.  I was a child of the 40s and remember Bill Munroe, Hank Snow, Hank Williams and so on ..... but thought this was rather cool..... especially Elivis asking Chet Atkins if he knew Bill MUnroe. NOva.

How true you are Nova, Back in the day there was no one like Mr. Bill on a mandolin, I would have loved to have seen him back in his prime.
Kinda like Jimmy Rogers, he was a MEGA STAR of his day and no one could touch him.

Keep on Pickin'

Yes we did darling and we danced and danced with the big folks at the old barn dances a long time ago.   I came from a fishing and farming town and at the end of the season we would fix up the barn and have old fashioned barn dances that were the thrill of the whole community.  And Bill Munroe and bluegrass was the music most often played.  Going on 63, I can still hear it as clear as day. That old radio and those records brought a lot of joy to us country folks. Thanks for your lovely post. Hugs and love from your old momma NOva. We are working mighty hard to have the beloved Stanley brother inducted and all who make music part of our lives.  I tell my children that bluegrass is the baby's milk to country music and without it there would be no country music and we all know it. Your Nova.

Gracie.... you were born just on time.  You should have seen the reaction when I posted this to Billy's site and a few of the other younger crowd and the older who simply forgot.   have been saying for years that Bill Munroe is one of the first rockers (smile) and many know just what I meant.  Hug from Nova.
